Unique program gives Monash and Warwick students a global edge
A recent visit to Monash University by Dr Sophie Reissner-Roubicek, funded through the Monash Warwick Alliance (MWA) Visiting Educators Scheme, enabled the demonstration of new student-centred resources linked to the existing MWA Intercultural Competence project on which she and Dr Nadine Normand-Marconnet collaborated as academic leads. These resources are designed to support students working together in mixed cultural groups and teams and help them articulate their learning outcomes to employers.
During her visit to Monash, Dr Reissner-Roubicek delivered a dynamic, interactive workshop for staff, sharing insights and best practice on implementing them. She also contributed to a networking breakfast panel discussion and facilitated a workshop for Careers staff.
For Warwick, the visit provided a window on current approaches at Monash. These included the delivery and evaluation models for the co-curricular training program (Leap into Leadership – Connecting across Cultures module), as well as faculty pilot projects in Arts, the Business School and Law. Insights into resources being developed at Monash in relation to Stage 3 of the intercultural training were particularly useful.
Dr Reissner-Roubicek said, “It was so rewarding to see how useful our work will be to MWA colleagues in many disciplines and how it will help them deliver an excellent student experience. I really look forward to exploring continued ways in which we can all benefit from the collaboration. The welcome at Monash was awesome and I hope our relationship goes from strength to strength”.
