Dr Janine Kirk addresses Mannix College

Dr Janine Kirk AM, the CEO of Prince's Charities Australia (PCA) delivered the 2016 Women in Leadership Lecture at Mannix College late last month.

Speaking to an audience that included Mannix College guests, staff and residents, Dr Kirk, who was previously a Monash Vice-Chancellor’s Professorial Fellow (2012-2015), discussed the topic ‘Are you a Connector, Maven or Salesperson?’

The PCA was established to provide a coordinating presence for His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales’s charitable endeavours in Australia.

Previously, Dr Kirk has been a partner at Ernst & Young; CEO of the Committee for Melbourne; Chairman of The Melbourne Prize Trust; Chairman of the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute Leadership Advisory Board at Monash; Director of The Cranlana Leadership Programme; Chairman of the PNG Kukukuku Tribe Advisory Council; Chairman of Tourism Victoria and Chairman of the Melbourne Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Boasting an illustrious career, Dr Kirk captivated the audience with stories of her life challenges, leadership challenges, and lessons learnt through her business journey.

She advised the young men and women of Mannix to be open in discussing their ideas and to take educated risks. She concluded her lecture by talking about the importance of strong leadership and the power of networking.

The Women in Leadership Lecture is one of three conducted by Mannix College. This also includes the Newman Lecture and the Entrepreneurship Business and Innovation Lecture. Previous Women in Leadership Lecturers have included Ms Janine Shepherd AM (Olympian and motivational speaker) and Ms Abigail Forsyth (Business Woman and Entrepreneur).
