Good bye moustache season

With December upon us, everyone can let out a huge sigh of relief as men across all campuses pick up their razors and shave goodbye to their moustaches, marking the end of Movember.

Monash Sport encouraged all members of the Monash community to participate in the worthy cause as part of TeamMONASH™ and seek sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues.

A special congratulations goes to TeamMONASH™ for taking third place in the National University Challenge, raising nearly $10,000 for men’s health.

Participants started on 1 November with a clean shaven face and used the whole month to grow their moustaches and raise money for The Prostate Cancer Foundation and the national depression initiative, Beyond Blue.

TeamMONASH™ would not have won bronze at the National University Challenge if it wasn’t for the efforts of their main fundraiser and team captain Mark Ruberto,  ICT Support Officer, who raised $1,748.

“I’d like to give a big thank you to everyone that supported me and donated to the campaign,” Mr Ruberto said.

“It’s for a good cause and it was a great result for the team, so I look forward to being involved again next year."

Monash staff member Michael Storr, Department of Physiotherapy, also won “Man of the Uni Challenge” for his efforts in sporting a particularly impressive 'Mo’.
