Managing sporting success
2010 sport managers with Monash Sport Director Martin Doulton at the conclusion of the Student Development Program
Monash Sport will again team up with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to deliver the 2011 Student Development Program to more than 30 student Sport Managers who are preparing to take their teams to the Australian University Games in September.
The program, which was first run with PwC in 2010, focuses on providing professional development opportunities to the group of TeamMONASH™ Sport Managers that lead each of the 32 teams representing Monash at the Australian University Games (AUG).
Jane Hanh from PwC’s Campus Relationships and Recruitment team will lead an engaging set of workshops, focusing on developing the leadership, management, organisation and teamwork skills of the Sport Managers.
Among other skills, the students will gain a greater understanding of how different people approach tasks and work towards goals in different ways. They will also be encouraged to examine their own working styles to determine how to work successfully with their peers.
As well as balancing their academic and sporting commitments, the team of Sport Managers are currently working hard to recruit and coordinate their teams for this year. They are responsible for team selections, organising accommodation, functions and other logistical elements.
Monash Sport Director Martin Doulton is pleased to be working with PwC after a successful collaboration in 2010.
“It is great to have PricewaterhouseCoopers on board as part of TeamMONASH™ for the 2011 AUG campaign. With their support, we are offering a great opportunity to the hard working leaders of our 2011 team,” Mr Doulton said.
“We will see the rewards from this fantastic collaboration in the last week of September when Monash goes for its third Overall Sporting Champions Trophy in four years.”
The AUGs will be held at the Gold Coast from 25 to 30 September 2011. Monash placed first overall in 2008 and 2009, and second in 2010.
