Welcoming all international students from December
Monash University is delighted to be able to welcome back international students from across the globe, after the Federal Government announced fully vaccinated students will be able to return from the start of December without applying for a travel exemption and without quarantine.
Monash University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC said the return of all international students to Australian shores was a vital step in reinvigorating Australian society, way of life and university campuses.
Professor Gardner’s expectation is that all Monash students who wish to return to campus in Melbourne will be able to do so in Semester 1, 2022.
“We have missed the vibrancy and diversity that our international students bring to Monash and Australia,” Professor Gardner said.
“We are delighted the Federal Government has recognised the importance of international students to this country, including the contribution they make to the broader community, and has now streamlined the pathway for those who are fully vaccinated.
“Monash is planning a host of exciting, vibrant events to welcome all students back to campus, to ensure they receive the full university experience and social interaction they have missed these past two years.
The Federal Government has indicated that the changes to Australia’s borders will come into effect on 1 December, 2021 with hundreds of thousands of international arrivals to commence from that time, including our Monash students.
We will be at the airport to welcome back our students as they arrive back on our shores and we can’t wait to share what we’ve got lined up including day trips, tours and even a day at the Australian Open.
