Alicia Frankovich is known for her temporal exhibitions, video works, performances and sculptures. With an interest in post-humanist thinking, she seeks to de-centre the experience of the audience through the medium of the exhibition. Frankovich puts bodies into situations where they play out relations, often testing social conventions and behaviours. Alicia Frankovich (b. New Zealand, 1980) obtained a BVA in sculpture at AUT, Auckland in 2002 and an MFA at Monash University, Melbourne in 2016. She has undertaken various residencies including at AIR Antwerpen, ISCP New York, Firestation Dublin and Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne. In 2012 Frankovich was short-listed for the Walters Prize, New Zealand’s premier contemporary arts prize and she is this year shortlisted for the Kunstpreis der Böttcherstraße, Kunsthaus Bremen, Germany, one of Germany's most important art prizes for young art.
Frankovich is a current recipient of The Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship at The Australian National University.
