Helen Powell RN SCPHN (OH)
Occupational Health Nurse Consultant
All aspects of Occupational Health for staff and students at all campuses.
I have been a qualified Division 1 nurse for over 20 years and in the specialist field of Occupational Health (OH) since 2005. My Occupational Health experience commenced in the UK providing OH services to a large hospital board as part of a large OH team. After gaining my Graduate Diploma I gained a senior role in a rural satellite hospital. This involved coordination and implementation of clinics for immunisation, pre-employment, health surveillance, return to work, health promotion and all factors relating to health at work and wider public health issues.
During this time I also provided Occupational Health Services to employees within the private industrial sector (Coal Fired Power Plant and Aeroplane manufacturer)
I have worked within my current role at Monash since 2010 and currently job share with Occupational Health Nurse Consultant, Angela Wall. This has proved to be a diverse role increasing my skills and knowledge in First Aid Coordination, Ergonomics and Occupational Health issues facing staff working with animals, biologicals and chemicals.
Special Interests include Health Surveillance and Health Promotion.
