Contractors

In accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic), Monash University and those Monash staff who engage or manage contractors are responsible for the health and safety of the contractor and the contractor's employees, in relation to all matters over which Monash University has control. This includes ensuring that contractors:

• have the qualifications, training, experience, certificates of competency and OHS knowledge required for the job
• complete the online contractor safety induction program
• submit a safe work method statement before work starts
• minimise the environmental impact of their activities
• employ safe tools and systems of work to do a job
• have the required compensation and liability insurance
• report all hazards and incidents to their Monash contract supervisor/project officer
