Vice-Chancellor's Award for Exceptional Contributions to OHS

Applications are now open to Monash University staff for the "Vice-Chancellor's Award for Exceptional Contributions to OHS".  The prize is awarded in the following two categories:

  • Individual Award
  • Team Award

The Awards recognise the contributions of staff who have implemented innovative and exciting ideas in Occupational Health and Safety at Monash University.

Eligibility

All staff who are employed by Monash University, with the exception of OH&S staff, are eligible to apply or be nominated by their peers

Criteria

Your application must include supporting evidence to demonstrate innovation in one or more of the following.

⇒     The successful implementation of an innovating Health and/or Safety strategy or program that has resulted in improvements within your work area.
⇒     A Health and Safety initiative that has resulted in a significant reduction in incident or injury rates.
⇒     The fostering of a positive OHS culture.
⇒     The promotion of OHS initiatives in your workplace.

Submitting your application

Applications can be from individuals or teams and must have the support of your Dean, Director, or equivalent.

Steps to follow:

  1. Log into the "Application Form"
  2. Prior to submitting the Application Form for approval by your Dean, Director or equivalent, you will need to upload the following:
    1. a statement (word document) of no more than 300 words outlining the achievements of the nominated individual or team; and
    2. if applicable, you may want to add further supporting documentation of no more than 3 pages as part of your application.
  3. When forwarding your application for approval, you MUST assign it to your Dean, Director or equivalent person for approval.
  4. Once approved, your application will be forwarded to OH&S for processing.
Selection Committee

Nominations will be evaluated by a committee comprising:

  • Chairperson of the Monash University OHS Committee
  • A member of the Monash University OHS Committee
  • Manager, OH&S
Awards

The following prize money will be awarded to the successful nominees.

  • Individual - $3,000
  • Team - $5,000

The Awards will be presented by the President & Vice-Chancellor, or her nominee, at a function on 23 October 2019.
