Resolution of unacceptable behaviour in the workplace
Staff complaints against other staff
The Resolution of Unacceptable Behaviour in the Workplace Procedure is intended to be applied in cases where it is alleged that a staff member in the course of his/her employment by the University, has been subjected to unwarranted, unjustifiable or inappropriate behaviour by another staff member and when local resolution has not been successful. Separate procedures apply where a staff member makes a complaint of unacceptable behaviour against a student, contractor or visitor to the University, or where a student, contractor or visitor makes a complaint of unacceptable behaviour against a staff member (refer below).
Complaints against students
Complaints of unacceptable behaviour against students should be referred to the relevant Associate Dean (Education) and, where appropriate, student discipline procedures may be initiated.
Complaints against contractors
Complaints of unacceptable behaviour against contractors should be referred to the authorised representative of the University who engaged the contractor and, where appropriate, action may be taken in accordance with the default and termination provisions of the contractor agreement.
Student, contractor or visitor complaints against staff
Student, contractor, or visitor complaints against staff members should, in the first instance, be referred to the staff member's supervisor. Where appropriate, disciplinary proceedings under the relevant Enterprise Agreement may be initiated.
