Music theatre star, jazz vocalist, violinist and songwriter, Fem Belling is a virtuosic vagabond and a Count's favourite.
Music theatre star, jazz vocalist, violinist and songwriter, Fem Belling is a virtuosic vagabond, traversing styles as deftly as she crossed the seas, breaking rules and barriers as meticulously as she studied them. In love with the conventions of #oldschool but never at their mercy, the music in her blood is rich and strong.
Returning to The Count’s, Fem presents her mix of jazz and genre-defying fabulousness. Winner of 5 FNB Vita Awards (the South African equivalent of The Tonys), she’s performed for Her Majesty the Queen, sang at Nelson Mandela’s funeral and was nominated for a Green Room award for her portrayal of Liza Minelli in The Boy From Oz. She has appeared at festivals including Madajazzcar, North Sea Jazz and Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
A prolific collaborator, she features on the ARIA-nominated Public Opinion Afro Orchestra album ‘Do Anything Go Anywhere’, appears on the Australian Jazz Bell nominated album ZEDSIX ‘The Shape of Jazz, and was nominated for the Australian Women in Music Award for exceptional musical excellence.
Do not miss Fem Belling and her ensemble raise the roof off The Count’s.
