The Count's reopens with the award-winning Jake Mason Trio in residence for the month of May.
“…epitomises good taste and swing” - The Australian
Hammond organ soul-jazz is the speciality of the Jake Mason Trio, quickly becoming one of Australia’s favourite jazz acts. Across four nights in May, the trio will perform tracks from their ARIA Jazz Album of the Year nominated record “Stranger in the Mirror” and premiere new compositions from the forthcoming album “The Modern Ark”.
The Jake Mason Trio features Danny Fischer (drums), James Sherlock (guitar) and Jake Mason (Hammond Organ).
Taking cue from the golden era of Hammond organ artists such as Jimmy Smith, Brother Jack McDuff and Dr. Lonnie Smith as well as music from today’s melting pot, the trio weave their way through familiar sounds with a modern twist. Bluesy soul-jazz, blazing vigour and soundtrack-esque territory.
Jake Mason – “I love the place where Jazz and Soul meet. It has a simplicity that is so warm and welcoming combined with a complexity that is exciting and makes you move”
