Jonathan Skovron Trio: SKOV

The Ian Potter Centre for Performing Arts

$10 - $25

Past Event

Jonathan Skovron and his trio brings their colourful, evocative folk-pop-jazz hybrid act to the Count’s following the recent release of their new album, K's Confusion.

“...gracefully carrying the torch of 70’s elegance and sophistication” (Lior)

During many years of working as a freelance musician across the genre spectrum in Melbourne, guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Skovron is always grappling with dual musical identities; constantly looking to stretch his craft as an improvising guitarist, his roots remain firmly planted in the singer-songwriter tradition. It was during the winter of 2019 that Skovron sought to intertwine these musical forces, creating the colourful, evocative folk-pop-jazz hybrid, SKOV.

Joined by long-time collaborators and fellow musical chameleons Haydn Meggitt on drums/vocals (Ross Wilson, FOOLS, The Lost Ragas), and Simon Starr on bass/vocals (YID!, The Black Sorrows) Skovron weaves his sophisticated, yet deeply sincere song writing through a maze of adventurous improvisation and interactive musical interplay.

SKOV’s debut album, K’s Confusion, was released in August 2022.

SKOV will be joined by guest artists Cheryl Durongpisikutul (Saxophone) & Raleigh Williams (voice).
