Past Event

Join bestselling children’s author Sofie Laguna for an exuberant and fun-filled workshop based on her book The House on Pleasant Street, a hilarious story about family and friendship and what happens when trick-or-treating doesn't go to plan. Sofie and the kids will explore the relationship between text and pictures, the ways words inspire illustrations, and how being an actor helps her to tell stories with strong characters. Her young audience will help Sofie read the story!

Sofie is an award-winning author for children and adults. Her many books for young people have been published in the US, the UK and in translation throughout Europe and Asia. After a period of writing books for adults, including the Miles Franklin Award winning The Eye of the Sheep, Sofie has again released a number of books for children, including the novels, The Song of Lewis Carmichael, and The Glow, both illustrated by her husband, Marc McBride. Sofie’s most recent picture book is The House on Pleasant Street, also illustrated by her husband, Marc.

This event will be followed by a book signing in the foyer with the author.
