Dr. Lucio Volino
Lucio Volino is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Pharmacy Practice and Administration Department at The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. After receiving his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Albany College of Pharmacy, Dr. Volino completed a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical research and regulatory affairs at Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, in conjunction with The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program.
Dr. Volino manages a community/ambulatory care pharmacy practice site at Barnabas Health Retail Pharmacy – Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. His responsibilities include developing, implementing, and overseeing patient-centered care programs focused on hypertension, medication therapy management, adult immunizations, and transitions of care. In addition, Dr. Volino supports the development and implementation of similar initiatives across five affiliated pharmacies.
At the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, Dr. Volino serves as a coordinator for the Pharmacy Communications Course sequence, Post-Rotational Evaluation and Preparation Seminar, and integrated Pharmacotherapy Assessment Skills Series. Dr. Volino’s research interests include innovative teaching within the classroom and practice settings, interprofessional education, opioid use and misuse, and care transitions-related outcomes.
