MIPS researcher wins prestigious Heart Foundation Award
Dr Lauren May, of the Drug Discovery Biology research theme at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Science, has received a Heart Foundation Future Leaders Fellowship and Paul Korner Innovation Award.
Dr May’s Future Leader Fellowship was awarded to support her work on harnessing context-specific G protein-coupled receptor biased agonism as a transformative approach to develop novel cardiovascular therapeutics that confer superior cardioprotection within the target population, while eschewing on-target adverse effects.
Dr May received a Paul Korner Innovation Award as one of this year’s most innovative successful Future Leader Fellowship applicants. The award was introduced in 2013 in memory of Professor Paul Korner and his contribution to cardiovascular research and provides a single payment of $20,000 on top of the Fellowship.
