Congratulations to Dr Xin Zhang, recent PhD graduate from the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences' Drug Discovery Biology (DDB) theme, on being awarded the 2021 Mollie Holman Award for best doctoral thesis completed in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Her PhD thesis is entitled "Understanding structure and activation of GLP-1R".

Established in 1998, the Mollie Holman Award is named after the late pioneering physiologist, Emeritus Professor Mollie Holman AO, in honour of her significant contribution to science and education. The award is among the highest academic honours Monash University bestows and acknowledges and rewards the doctoral candidates from each faculty for the quality of both their thesis and research.

Dr Zhang's PhD supervision team consisted of Professor Patrick Sexton and Associate Professor Denise Wootten.

Dr Zhang is currently a Research Fellow in DDB and is part of the ARC ITT Centre for Cryo-electron Microscopy of Membrane Proteins.
