He also received the prestigious MERIT award from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health of the United States. His work has been further recognised in Japan by the Takeru and Aya Higuchi Memorial Award of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology.
Leung has been involved in an editorial capacity with many scientific periodicals and currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the AAPS Journal. His international leadership in pharmaceutical science is further acknowledged by his selection as the Scientific Program Chair for the 2010 Pharmaceutical Sciences World Congress, which will be a joint meeting between the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists and the International Pharmaceutical Federation.
