Neglected Diseases: Better Drugs for Developing Countries
Developing countries represent a small market and debilitating diseases tend to be neglected. In order to meet this dire need, we have exciting small molecule drug discovery projects targeting diseases from Sleeping Sickness and Chagas' Disease, to Visceral Leishmaniasis.
This project offers the opportunity to experience metabolomics analysis in the laboratory of Dr Darren Creek, as a means of elucidation biochemical pathways responsible for the biological activity.
With collaborators involved in biological interrogation in Queensland (Professor Avery), Brazil (Dr Artur Torres Cordeiro) and USA (Dr Ana Rodriguez), we are also planning for ample placement opportunities for this project.
