Towards cancer cures without side-effects: smart chemistry for drug delivery precision

In this project, the student will design and synthesise novel prodrugs of potent anticancer compounds that are activated only in the hypoxic environment of solid tumours, thus introducing a new class of efficacious cancer treatments devoid of highly undesirable general toxicity that accompanies all current chemotherapies.

Interdisciplinary Research

This project allows for the opportunity to develop skills in nanomaterials as part of the drug delivery component, hosted by the Voelcker lab at MIPS.
