Jasmin Chendi Li, former Honours student

Jasmin received her Bachelor (First Class Honours) degree in the Department of Pharmacology from the University of Melbourne in 2019 under the supervision of Heart Failure Pharmacology lab head, Professor Rebecca Ritchie, Professor Owen woodman and Dr Chengxue Helena Qin where her interest in cardiovascular drug discovery began. Jasmin's Honours project investigated the relative contribution of NO and HNO to endothelium-dependent relaxation in rat carotid arteries. She is now a new PhD candidate inthe Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Drug Discovery Biology Theme four-year doctoral program.

Jesse Walsh, former Honours student and research assisstant

Jesse received first class honours at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in 2017 under the supervision of Heart Failure Pharmacology lab head, Prof. Rebecca Ritchie and Dr Chengxue Helena Qin. The project investigated the role of the biased agonist, Compound 17b in the treatment of diabetic cardiomyopathy in a mouse model of Type 1 Diabetes. Jesse continued the research the following year by working as a research assistant at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in 2018. At the end of that year, she was accepted into the Doctor of Medicine program at Flinders University, after completing an additional Graduate Certificate in Public health whilst working full time. She is now in her second year of the medical course and sits on the senior committees for both the Flinders Medical Student and Surgical societies. Outside of her studies she enjoys spending time volunteering with Camp Quality, reading extensively and travelling back to Melbourne.
