Helena Barker is a Research Scientist with the Chem-Analytical Section of the Centre for Drug Candidate Optimisation (CDCO). She completed her undergraduate degree in chemistry focussing on biological and medicinal chemistry at the University of York, United Kingdom. Helena worked at Pfizer and Illumina and gained experience in research and development in drug discovery and for genetic sequencing technologies, before joining the CDCO in 2014. Helena specialises in organic chemistry, synthetic chemistry, compound characterisation and purification. Her present role focusses on the physiochemical analysis of drug candidates, primarily solubility profile studies. In her spare time Helena is an avid reader and keen live music fan. She most enjoys punk and rock music and meeting people from all walks of life.
