THE PLAIN OF JARS, LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC
vrchaeology brings together Virtual Reality (VR), remote sensing, and computational imaging to expand the archaeology research paradigm. Drone scans of sites in the Plain of Jars, Laos, are being used to safely explore sites that are inaccessible by foot due to unexploded ordinance. Validation at safe sites, including comparison of photogrammetric and laser scans, together with ground-penetrating radar and magnetometry, is establishing best practice in this field.
