Albert Edward (Ted) Bianco (ISAP Chair)

Ted Bianco is an independent advisor working in the healthcare and sustainability sectors, with an international portfolio of clients. From 2000 to 2015 he worked for the Wellcome Trust where he served as a member of the Executive Board and divisional director. He established the Department for Centres and Initiatives, the Division of Innovations and the ‘Our Planet Our Health’ program which laid the foundations for the current Climate and Health strategy area. He was Acting Director in 2013. Before joining Wellcome, Ted was the Walter Myers Professor of Parasitology at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Earlier appointments included a Wellcome Trust Senior Fellowship at Imperial College in London, a Wellcome Trust Advanced Training Fellowship at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Melbourne and a World Health Organisation research fellowship at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Ted’s research focused on the biology and immunology of infectious diseases and was conducted with in conjunction with collaborators in East and West Africa, the Caribbean and Latin America.
