The IGNITOR, Science Leaders Forum event is inspired by the stories of our Alumni and Researchers, who are leaders in Science, Research and Industry.

Around 100 science alums, staff and students braved the rain and cold to attend the Faculty’s first alumni event for some years – the ‘Ignitor – Science Leaders Forum’ held in the city in June.

This event reconnected science alumni with each other and the Faculty of Science. Our scientists led a thought-provoking talk entitled ‘Will climate change leave us hot, dry and hungry?’.

The panel was hosted by science alumnus Mr Justin Lichtblau, (Master of Environment and Sustainability 2018, Master of Business 2014, Bachelor of Arts 2012). Justin currently works as the E-waste/Single Use Plastic Bag  Campaign Lead at Sustainability Victoria.

Speakers included Professors Ros Gleadow, and Dustin Marshall from the School of Biological Sciences, and Dr Ailie Gallant from the School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment.

This Year’s Science Leaders Forum was a sell out. Due to popular demand we will run The Ignitor, Science Leaders Forum in 2020.
