In this unit you are placed in teams in a school environment where you teach a module of science to school students. Through this immersive experience you further develop skills that are transferable to any workplace: communication with a range of stakeholders, project and time management, and team work are some of the skills valued by the students who completed this unit. You can also use this opportunity to taste teaching as a possible career.
This unit uses work-related activities to enhance transferable skills including commercial awareness, leadership, teamwork, and communication. Through scenarios and creative problem solving activities you will learn the nuts and bolts of the business environment. You will self-assess your skills against what employers look for, write a CV and job application that will make you stand out, learn how to build your network, and how to present yourself professionally.
This unit is offered in Semesters 1 and 2.
Meet some of our students who have just completed the Science Internship unit (SCI3920). This unit is offered in Semesters 1 and 2, and in the Winter and Summer semesters. They have some great stories to share about their experiences ranging from reviewing the Therapeutic Goods Advertising Code to commercial lab work, to assisting with ground-breaking research and more.
