Monash School of Mathematics joins global risk professionals network

The new partnership means that students will learn the latest industry practices in financial risk management.

A global risk professionals network has endorsed Monash University as a leading education provider in financial risk management through the University’s Master of Financial Mathematics program.

The endorsement has come from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) – the world’s leading professional organisation for risk managers.

The GARP Partnership for Risk Education is a framework through which academic institutions can ensure that their risk management course offerings are aligned with global industry needs and best practices.

Academic partner programs incorporate the curriculum of GARP Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and Energy Risk Professional (ERP) certifications into their courses of study.

Monash University’s acting head of the School of Mathematics Associate Professor Kais Hamza welcomed the partnership and said there would be many benefits to the School through such a partnership with GARP.

“With this academic partnership, our students will learn the latest industry practices in financial risk management through our Master of Financial Mathematics program, aligned with the GARP FRM certification program,” Associate Professor Hamza said.

“In addition, our students will have access to exclusive financial benefits such as scholarships to cover the FRM Level 1 exam registration fee.”

The FRM program is a globally recognised professional certification in financial risk management, offered by GARP.
