The Current State of Girls Undertaking Physics

After a cursory glance at last year's gender breakdown of Physics undergraduate numbers at the University of Melbourne, we were surprised at the lack of females undertaking Physics at all levels. Further investigation, including surveys of the girls, have uncovered a continuing decline over the last two decades, some interesting attitudes amongst the girls themselves and some enlightenment as to where and how we should tackle this issue.
