  • single degrees - 48
  • double degrees - 24 towards Arts component

Complementary units towards a Monash Arts major

You must get approval from the undergraduate coordinator to study a complementary unit towards a major or minor. You need to complete a minimum of 18 third-year level credit points towards your major at Monash.

Completing a major or minor

Students who complete 24 or 48 credit points within a single area of study by complementary study cannot count this in place of a Monash Arts major or minor. If you wish to complete 48 points of complementary study, you should seek course advice.

How to apply

You will need to seek approval from your area coordinator to study units towards Monash areas of study.

See the complementary study web page for application details and semester closing dates and ensure you complete all necessary steps. Check the deadlines for the host institution, as these will vary from each university.

Summer and winter units

The closing date for:

  • winter semester is 31 May
  • summer semester is 31 October.

If the unit involves overseas travel, contact Arts Student Services before you submit your application.
