International students: Study Melbourne LIVE Projects

Want to work on real-world business problems in a Victorian Government Agency, NGO or private enterprise?

Study Melbourne offers a unique opportunity to experience a three-week collaborative work project called LIVE Projects.

From project brief to final report in three weeks

With other international students, you’ll work in teams of five or six to come up with solutions to current business challenges for an organisation that values diverse perspectives. You'll meet with your client once a week and be mentored through the process by an expert in the industry.

The program concludes in a boardroom-style presentation. You'll receive valuable feedback and a Certificate of Completion.

This is great opportunity for you to gain valuable real-world experience. You'll develop the employability skills required to work in a global workplace, while expanding your social connections and networks in Australia.

To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • be a currently enrolled Monash international student
  • have completed at least the first year of an undergraduate degree
  • be continuing your current course following the completion of the LIVE project.

Applications for the 2020/2021 summer programs are closed

The next program will be in July 2021.

"The project equipped me with much greater confidence as now I have a solid story to tell my future employers about the steps and processes we undertook, difficulties we faced as well as solutions we figured out together. The LIVE program offered me an invaluable chance to build local professional networks, enhance employability by resolving real-life business problems. Apart from the practical skills that I have attained including problem-solving, presentation and communication skills, the project offered me invaluable friendships with my team members who are from different cultural, educational and social backgrounds."

"Right after my experience in the LIVE Project, I started work at Monash University with higher confidence in my professional skills and greater ability to work in a team. The program also helped me get ready to start my internship at Cleanaway, allowing me to know what to expect from a business environment and use what I learned from  a leading company in Australia. I recommend doing the program seriously and with the professionalism that every job requires. Likewise, enjoying every learning experience and the opportunity of working with other students from different backgrounds, experts in the field, and clients with real business problems."

Nikhil Kathe

Project: Landscape analysis and mapping

"I developed skills that I will be able to use in future graduate programs or internships including being able to work well in teams and communicate my ideas. I had the opportunity to meet people and clients from this specific industry. It gave me an understanding of the industry in Australia and as an international student this was so essential. My advice to students in the future applying for programs is even though it's only three weeks, you'll get local experience which you can highlight in your resume. You'll also get a certificate after completing the project, along with the opportunity to network and make friends with people from other organisations and universities."
