Unwrapping a new phone these holidays?
You might find yourself unwrapping a new phone over the Christmas break. Hurray! But don't get rid of the old phone just yet.
While you’re backing up the new phone, downloading 20 new apps and testing out the thousand-megapixel camera, there’s one extremely important thing you need to do:
Transfer your multi-factor authentication (MFA) from your old device to your new one.
Miss this important step, and you won’t be able to access your Monash account and services, including WES and my.monash. Just downloading the app on your new phone won’t work because MFA protects access to your account.
To transfer MFA to your new device and keep your account secure:
- KEEP YOUR OLD PHONE. You can’t set up MFA on your new device without having your old phone with you.
- Follow these step-by-step instructions to delete your old phone and assign MFA access to your new device.
- Install MFA on your new phone.
