What Emily Koop says

“This past semester has been the most amazing experience of my life. I have learnt so much and gained so much from spending a semester abroad. I have no regrets, and can safely say that deciding to come to South Africa was the best decision I've made in a long time, and certainly the best decision of my university career”.

“The lion park was a definite highlight; despite finding out I was allergic to lions!”

Thoughts on the Intercampus Exchange Program

“Coming on exchange to South Africa has been the absolute highlight of my university experience. I have had so much fun, and have grown so much as a person. To go to a place that is so far away, has such a different culture, and is so far removed from everything in my life back home, was just incredible. It has been such a wonderful experience - I think it's one of those things that you just have to experience to understand. But I certainly recommend it to anyone who is even considering it”.

Life in South Africa

"There were so many moments where I just had to stop and think: this time last year, I was in Melbourne, in my little apartment, studying for uni, working at Aldi... living such a normal life. And now, I'm living with a Michael Jackson impersonator, in a house with no running water, there are break-dancers in my living room, and I'm in the middle of Africa. And loving every second of it."

Useful tips

“I have had so many good times, so many life-changing experiences here. South Africa has been my home-away-from-home, my comfort zone, my base, while travelling the rest of Africa. I have a place here.”
