Intensive Mode Study

Commencing in 2024

Are you a Study Abroad student looking for an immersive study experience during the summer or winter break, or wanting to gain some extra credits before or after your semester at Monash?

Monash Immersive Learning Experiences, or MILEstones, might be for you.

What will I study?

MILEstones are signature block-mode units at Monash with an emphasis on hands-on learning, through practical activities and/or field trips.

MILEstones are available across multiple faculties, and although usually three to four weeks in duration, offer the same number of credit points as a semester-length unit. As these units are taught during the summer and winter break, they can easily be paired with another Study Abroad program at Monash, or studied as a standalone experience.

MILEstones dates

MILEstones units are delivered intensively in block mode during the Summer and Winter periods.

January/February (Summer)
  • Block 1: early January - late January
  • Block 2: late January - mid-February
June/July (Winter)
  • late June – mid-July

Some examples of MILEstones units you could study include:

  • ATS2269 – Contemporary Australia and its cultures: peoples, places, identities (June/July)
  • BEX2722 – Engaging with international business - Australia

The unit information listed above is based on the current Monash Handbook. Before you list a unit on your study plan, please ensure you meet the unit's prerequisites and have a look at our academic considerations.
