Advanced midwifery practice

Your qualification will be a Master of Advanced Midwifery Practice

The midwifery specialisation is designed to prepare you as the experienced midwife, registered in your country of origin, for senior management, education, professional and specialist leadership roles in a range of midwifery settings. You will examine philosophies around women-centred care and collaborative practice within a multidisciplinary team that will enhance your ability to provide leadership in the healthcare setting. This specialisation is offered to international student visa holders to study on campus in Australia.

Students on an international visa may apply to study the Midwifery specialisation either in Australia on campus, or from your home country via online mode.

Other specialisations are not available to international students in Australia on a student visa (however, these other specialisations may be studied via online mode from your home country).

Entry requirements

Depending on prior qualifications:

Entry level 1: 

Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time (72 points to complete)

A Australian Bachelor Degree in a cognate discipline (or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution) with a 60% credit average

AND

Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or equivalent accredited Professional Registration Body.

AND

A minimum of two years equivalent full time experience in the cognate discipline and evidence of current engagement in Clinical Practice in area of specialisation.

Entry level 2: 

Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time (48 points)

A four year Australian Bachelor Degree in the cognate discipline (or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution) with a 60% credit average

OR

A three year Australian Bachelor degree and a Graduate Diploma or Masters qualifying Degree in a cognate discipline, with a 60% credit average in both disciplines.

AND

Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or equivalent accredited Professional Registration Body.

AND

A minimum of two years equivalent full time experience in the cognate discipline and evidence of current engagement in Clinical Practice in area of specialisation.
