Advanced paediatric physiotherapy practice

Your qualification will be a Master of Advanced Paediatric Physiotherapy Practice

This specialisation is designed for physiotherapists interested in developing and expanding their skills in paediatrics. It integrates theoretical, academic, research and practical skills in advanced clinical paediatric physiotherapy practice. You will learn about aetiology and epidemiology of examples of neurological, cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal and complex conditions and the physiotherapy role in evaluation.There will be an emphasis on skills in critical decision-making and clinical reasoning for the management of paediatric conditions. There is also a focus on leadership, problem solving and advanced clinical skills within a range of healthcare settings and family-centred practice.

Students on an international visa may apply to study the Midwifery specialisation either in Australia on campus, or from your home country via online mode.

Other specialisations are not available to international students in Australia on a student visa (however, these other specialisations may be studied via online mode from your home country).

Entry requirements

Depending on prior qualifications:

Entry level 1: 

Duration: 1.5 years full-time, 3 years part-time (72 points to complete)

A Australian Bachelor Degree in a cognate discipline (or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution) with a 60% credit average

AND

Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or equivalent accredited Professional Registration Body.

AND

A minimum of two years equivalent full time experience in the cognate discipline and evidence of current engagement in Clinical Practice in area of specialisation.

Entry level 2: 

Duration: 1 year full-time, 2 years part-time (48 points)

A four year Australian Bachelor Degree in the cognate discipline (or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution) with a 60% credit average

OR

A three year Australian Bachelor degree and a Graduate Diploma or Masters qualifying Degree in a cognate discipline, with a 60% credit average in both disciplines.

AND

Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or equivalent accredited Professional Registration Body.

AND

A minimum of two years equivalent full time experience in the cognate discipline and evidence of current engagement in Clinical Practice in area of specialisation.
