The Graduate Diploma course provides you with a broad range of theory and techniques especially designed for health professionals. This program assists you to understand the mathematical background, theory and applications of the principles of epidemiology and biostatistics in health and medical research; develops your skills in performing complex statistical analyses as for reading statistical methodological literature.

Entry Requirements

You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.

Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)

Qualifications

  • An Australian undergraduate honours degree (or equivalent) in mathematics or statistics
  • or

  • An Australian undergraduate Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in science, psychology, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, health sciences or a quantitiative discipline, plus:
    • completion of MPH5041 Introductory biostatistics or an equivalent unit or equivalent knowledge as deemed by the Faculty;

    or

  • A Graduate Certificate of Biostatistics from Monash University or another university in the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia, or equivalent as deemed by the Faculty.

English requirements

Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.

Extra Requirements

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV), Relevant Work Experience or statement from employer to substantiate period of employment.
  • Statement of purpose (250-300 words maximum) outlining reasons for undertaking the course and areas of interest.

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.
