The Graduate Certificate of Clinical Simulation will enable you to apply principles and theories that inform educational practice in a range of clinical and other relevant contexts to undertake professional and highly skilled work and as a pathway for further learning. This practice-based qualification is suitable for a broad range of health professionals who are, or will be, engaged in simulation-based education. This includes in teaching, assessment, evaluation, mentoring and supervision of health professionals and students in a range of clinical and other contexts. The qualification is also suited to health professionals who use simulation for healthcare service quality improvement or systems testing. However, the use of simulation as an educational method is prioritised.

The Graduate Certificate of Clinical Simulation is a 24cp program that requires the successful completion of our foundation unit and TWO short courses from the current MIHCE Health Professions Education short course offerings.

* Assessed short courses must be chosen from the eligible short courses offered by Monash Institute for Health and Clinical Education (MIHCE).

The standard duration of this course is one year part time. Participants have a maximum of three years to complete all units.

This course is not available to international students who are holders of an Australian student visa, for study onshore in Australia. However, holders of some other categories of Australian visas living in Australia, and students studying off-campus by distance learning (where this option is available) and living outside of Australia, may be eligible for this course.

Qualifications

An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline from any health related qualification.

English requirements

Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.

Fee information specific to this course

The total fees are made up of the fees for the 2 short courses (visit Monash Institute for Health and Clinical Education for short course fees) plus the fee for the HCS5100 Foundations of Health Professions Education. The 2019 fee for HCS5100 is $7000.00

This part time course is 24 credit points. However, students will receive 12 points of credit for specified short courses, reducing the fee to A$7,000 for 2019. (Fees for the short courses are charged separately).
