Arts Research

Graduate diploma

The Graduate Diploma of Arts Research is an honours year equivalent and will provide high achieving students who do not already have the required research component, with the expertise to progress into a Graduate Research program offered by the Faculty.

You will complete a combination of coursework and research in your chosen humanities and social sciences discipline. You will also undertake research methodology training and carry out an independent research project in your selected discipline, working closely with a supervisor who will provide you with individual guidance and academic counselling.

You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.

Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)

Qualifications

An Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a cognate field in their chosen research area of study with a distinction grade (70%) average or above in 24 points of studies in the relevant discipline units at level three.

English requirements

Level A
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 Overall score, with minimum band scores: Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.0 Pearson Test of English (Academic): 58 Overall score, with minimum scores: Listening 50, Reading 50, Speaking 50 and Writing 50TOEFL Internet-based test: 79 Overall score, with minimum scores: Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18 and Writing 21 Equivalent approved English test

University entrance requirements

Minimum entrance requirements for admission to Monash University Australia.

The course comprises 48 points including a combination of coursework and research.

Making the application

Current Monash students

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.

Please note that if you apply for a course transfer, you should still enrol in your current course as if you were continuing so as not to jeopardise your enrolment in the Faculty if your transfer application is unsuccessful. More about Course Transfer...
