Physiotherapy - M6032
Professional entry master degree
As a physiotherapist, you have the opportunity to make a big impact on someone’s life. Whether you’re part of a transplant recipient’s first steps with a new set of lungs or helping an athlete get back on the field after an injury, it’s a highly rewarding job.
The Doctor of Physiotherapy provides you with the knowledge, skills and clinical experience to start your career as a physiotherapist. Based at our Peninsula campus, you’ll become part of a growing specialist precinct for allied health and primary care education and research.
A physiotherapist in training from day one
Get hands-on experience and exposure to the clinical environment from the start of your degree. We offer early work-integrated learning, where you’ll see physiotherapists in action, take part in simulation activities and practice your new skills in our physiotherapy practice labs and rehabilitation gym on campus. You’ll also have opportunities to learn collaborative practice alongside students from other areas of health, preparing you to provide the best possible patient care.
Practical experience at Victoria’s leading hospitals and health services
We partner with some of the state’s major healthcare providers to give you access to high-quality clinical training. Our placements take place in a range of facilities from hospitals to rehabilitation centres to private practice. Your placement could take you to the Alfred, Australasia’s largest trauma centre, community rehabilitation with Peninsula Health, or even with a rural healthcare service.
Creating future healthcare leaders
At Monash, we’re not just educating tomorrow’s physiotherapists, but preparing the next generation of leaders in health. You’ll complete your own research project, under the guidance of one of our physiotherapy experts and have the opportunity to make a difference to physiotherapy practice and services. With training in leadership, advocacy and education as part of your degree, you’ll be prepared for a wide range of potential career pathways.
Accreditation
Full accreditation is expected in 2023, when the first cohort of Doctor of Physiotherapy students complete our program, in-line with the Australian Physiotherapy Council accreditation guidelines.
