Focusing on one of three specialisations - Applied Econometrics, Applied Economics and Econometrics or Economics - you’ll learn how your skills apply to a particular area of business practice.
Your independent research will give you a strong theoretical base to complement the more practical side of your studies, and you’ll graduate with the technical and analytical skills you need to excel in a specialist role.

You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.

Qualifications
Depending on prior qualifications:
Entry level 1: 96 points to complete | An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification), with a preferred Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65 or an equivalent GPA as approved by the faculty. Applicants will be ranked and selected based on their entire academic record. |
Entry level 2: 72 points to complete | An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline with at least a credit (65%) average, or equivalent qualification and OR An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) and an Australian graduate certificate (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline with at least a credit (65%) average in both qualifications, or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty. OR A four-year Australian bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) with at least a credit (65%) average, or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty. |
Entry level 3: 48 points to complete | An Australian bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline with at least a credit (65%) average, or equivalent qualification and experience approved by the faculty. |
Applicants wishing to complete the Applied Econometrics or Applied Economics and Econometrics stream must have achieved a result of at least 70% in a first year undergraduate statistics/mathematics unit (or equivalent).
English requirements
Applicants must also meet the English language requirements.

The course is structured in three parts. Part A. Advanced preparatory, Part B. Mastery knowledge and Part C. Application studies.

You may apply to transfer from another Monash course. Transfers are a competitive process. You may apply mid-year for available courses however consideration will be given as to whether you will be able to follow your course progression.
