Bachelor degree (honours year)
This is a prestigious program of coursework and research in Biomedical science for high achieving students who have completed the Bachelor of Biomedical Science or a comparable degree course.
You will undertake research methodology training and carry out an independent research project in your specialist field, working closely with a supervisor who will provide you with individual guidance and academic counselling. The course offers a pathway to higher level research in biomedical science.
There is a wide breadth of biomedical research available in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, providing a high degree of flexibility for you to pursue your honours year in a field of your choice.

Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)
Qualifications
Completion of all requirements for the award of the pass degree of Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University, or a comparable qualification in biomedical science. Monash students require an average of 70% or higher in at least 24 points at third-year level (including at least 12 points in biomedical science core units).
Students applying for admission based on comparable qualifications in biomedical science will need to demonstrate that they have achieved an appropriate standard in studies comparable to the biomedical science core units and have an appropriate academic standard at third-year level.

To complete your course, you are required to demonstrate that you meet fitness for practice expectations. Fitness for practice is part of the assessment in all units in this course. If you don't meet the fitness for practice expectations you will receive a fail mark for the unit and be required to repeat the unit before you can progress to the next year level of the course. In some circumstances, not meeting fitness for practice requirements can lead to exclusion from the course. This course consists of a combination of coursework and research. In the coursework component you will develop advanced theoretical and/or technical knowledge of your area of focus within Biomedical Science. In the research component you will develop research methodologies appropriate to your focus and plan and execute a research project under the individual guidance of an academic supervisor.
