The Graduate Certificate of Clinical Simulation will enable you to apply principles and theories that inform educational practice in a range of clinical and other relevant contexts to undertake professional and highly skilled work and as a pathway for further learning. This practice-based qualification is suitable for a broad range of health professionals who are, or will be, engaged in simulation-based education. This includes in teaching, assessment, evaluation, mentoring and supervision of health professionals and students in a range of clinical and other contexts. The qualification is also suited to health professionals who use simulation for healthcare service quality improvement or systems testing. However, the use of simulation as an educational method is prioritised.

Course Handbook

The Graduate Certificate of Clinical Simulation is a 24cp program that requires the successful completion of our foundation unit and TWO short courses from the current MIHCE Clinical Simulation short course offerings.

The standard duration of this course is one year part time. Participants have a maximum of three years to complete all units.

Participants who successfully complete the assessed version of TWO of the following short courses will be granted 6cp of credit towards the GradCertClinSim at Monash University.

Minimum Entry Requirements (International students)

Qualifications

An Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a cognate discipline from any health related qualification.

English entry requirements

IELTS (Academic): 7.0 Overall score, with minimum band scores: Listening 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 6.5 and Speaking 6.5 Pearson Test of English (Academic):  65 Overall score, with minimum scores: Listening 58, Reading 58, Speaking 58 and Writing 58TOEFL Internet-based test: 94 Overall score, with minimum scores: Reading 19, Listening 20, Speaking 20 and Writing 24Equivalent approved English test

Fee information specific to this course

The total fees are made up of the fees for the 2 short courses (visit Monash Institute for Health and Clinical Education for short course fees) plus the fee for the HCS5100 Foundations of Clinical Simulation. The 2020 fee for HCS5100 is $7,250.00

This part time course is 24 credit points. However, students will receive 12 points of credit for specified short courses, reducing the fee to A$7,250  for 2020. (Fees for the short courses are charged separately).
