Your qualification will be a Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education. Designed as an upgrade to your Diploma of Children’s Services, you’ll qualify as a teacher for infants and children from birth to five years of age in childcare, kindergartens and preschools.

With 60 days of professional teaching experience in early childhood settings, you’ll get a chance to put theory into practice and get a real taste for what teaching looks like out in the field.

About registration and accreditation
Here’s what you need to know:
- This course is accredited by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). This means you’ll be able to work in licensed preschools and childcare centres in Victoria, and your qualification is accepted in most other states and territories.
- You need to register with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) to teach in a Victorian school.

Entry Requirements
You need to satisfy the following entrance requirements to be considered for entry to this course.
Minimum Entry Requirements (Domestic students)
Qualifications
A graded Australian Diploma in Children's Services (or recognised graded equivalent) with at least a pass (50%) average; and a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, in an early childhood education setting with related leadership responsibilities.
English requirements
All applicants must meet English language requirements.
University entrance requirements
Minimum entrance requirements for admission to Monash University Australia.
Extra Requirements
A ‘Statement of Service’ or a written reference from current or previous employers which documents dates of employment and related leadership responsibilities, to substantiate that a minimum of 5 years relevant employment has been undertaken.
