This course is designed for anyone working in the health sector (or looking to make the move) and interested in building skills and knowledge in digital health, including clinicians, nurses and allied health professionals, health executives, administrators and professional staff, technicians and technical staff working in healthcare, researchers.

What you will learn

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between digital health, health informatics, e-health, data science and bioinformatics.
  • Discuss the significance of health information and informatics in contemporary healthcare delivery.
  • Examine the significance and application of modern digital biomarkers for healthcare in the 21st century.
  • Explain the growing emphasis on patient engagement and empowerment in healthcare and describe the characteristics of an engaged e-Patient.
  • Contrast electronic health records, electronic medical records, patient health records, clinical information and clinical decision support systems and describe the different ways they can be used to improve individual and population health.
  • Evaluate the future of digital health and clinical informatics – from big data and data visualisation to augmented intelligence systems to using digital health technology to advance clinical and healthcare practice.

Eligible participants who complete the micro-credential can receive 6 credit points of unspecified credit towards the Master of Public Health.

Note: Successful completion of a micro-credential does not guarantee admission into an award course. Prospective students must meet the eligibility and admission requirements for the award course. A micro-credential can only be used as credit towards a single degree on one occasion, and is valid for 7 years.
