What is psychology?

Psychology is concerned with a wide range of phenomena, including remembering and forgetting, thinking, problem-solving, learning, acquiring skills, language, seeing and hearing, verbal and non-verbal communication, social interactions and emotions. It focuses on understanding biological, social and environmental influences on people and societies.

Our courses

At Monash, we’re big on flexibility. You have the option to study psychology as a specialist degree, or as a major or minor or APAC accredited extended major within a broader Arts or Science degree (or double degree). Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)

Bachelor of Arts (psychology extended major, major or minor)

With a Bachelor of Arts, you’ll gain the tools to understand our society, its institutions and the motivations of people. Combine psychology with disciplines like anthropology, criminology, sociology, human rights, international relations and much more, or broaden your options with an Arts double degree.

Bachelor of Science (psychology extended major, major or minor)

Solve problems, create change.

Delve deep into the ‘why’ behind why we do what we do. Whether your passion is for the natural world or neuroscience, with our flexible degree, you can choose subjects from over 20 fascinating areas of study, and maximise further study options with a Science double degree. Combine psychology with physiology, environmental science, genetics, pharmacology or mathematics, just to name a few.
