Games and immersive media

Excited by the opportunities media has in changing our daily experiences? If you’re inspired by cutting-edge digital experiences, from games to virtual reality, to art and soundscapes, then our Games and immersive media major is for you.

In this major, you can allow your technology-led creativity to flourish by developing your technical expertise while having the creative freedom to make your ideas a reality.

Learning is practical, hands-on and collaborative. You’ll examine the theoretical and practical developments of game design and development, and build upon foundational studies in 3D modelling, game prototyping and virtual world-building, to help you realise unique concepts and emerging ideas.

By studying Games and immersive media, you’ll be prepared for career opportunities in the games industry, in 3D modelling and animation, virtual reality, technical art, sound design, immersive visualisation and tangible and physical computing.

A major or minor in this area will add a creative element for students undertaking more technical IT or engineering studies, as well as providing practical IT-based skills to students undertaking studies in the art or design fields.
