The Monash Queer Leaders Scholarship recognises the efforts of a Monash student who contributes to an inclusive culture and assists in promoting awareness and understanding of issues that may affect people of diverse genders and sexualities.

Megan Runacres: Making the most of university life

I didn’t realise there were so many scholarships available so I applied for as many as I could and did my best to obtain a high ATAR.

Am I eligible?

You must be one of the following:

  • An Australian citizen
  • A New Zealand citizen
  • Australian permanent resident
  • Australian humanitarian visa holder

You must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree (coursework) at a Monash campus in Australia.
  • Achieve a minimum Weighted Average Mark of 70.
  • Identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer* community (LGBTIQ).

*In this context queer is used as an umbrella term to describe people of diverse genders and sexualities.

  • Based on academic achievement and interview.
  • A demonstrated commitment to promoting awareness and understanding of issues that may affect people of diverse genders and sexualities.

To retain this scholarship:

  • Dependant upon ongoing participation in LGBTIQ inclusion activities at Monash.
