Monash University Berwick campus

Berwick campus is situated in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs, about 40 kilometres from the city centre, in one of the fastest-growing areas of Australia. The campus is Monash University's newest Australian campus, with students and staff enjoying state-of-the-art facilities.

The Berwick train station is a seven-minute walk from the campus. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes to and from the Melbourne CBD. The university also operates a free, regular inter-campus shuttle service between the Clayton and Berwick campuses.

The original Berwick village features tree-lined streets, historic buildings and manicured gardens. It is only one-and-a-half kilometres from the campus and has its own large retailers, including two major supermarkets. There are also many small shops and businesses situated in the shopping precinct, including services such as a library and post office.

Fountain Gate shopping centre is located six kilometres from the campus in the suburb of Narre Warren. The second-largest shopping centre in Australia, it features 440 individual stores including supermarkets, major department stores and numerous specialty stores.

If you are a lover of fresh produce, visit the Casey-Berwick Farmers' Market. Held on the fourth Saturday of each month, the market has around 30 stalls selling fresh food direct from the grower. The Akoonah Park Market in Berwick comes alive every Sunday with fresh produce, crafts, clothes and bric-a-brac.  


Nature lovers, walkers, keen gardeners and photographers will enjoy the Wilson Botanic Park and Cranbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens.

Located in Berwick at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges, Wilson Botanic Park has spectacular views, sheer rock walls, a basalt lake and native and exotic gardens. Walking trails throughout the park offer stunning vistas and the amphitheatre near the lake hosts music and cultural events throughout the summer.

Nearby Cranbourne is home to the Royal Botanic Gardens, where you can discover more than 170,000 native plants.

Further afield, you can visit Tooradin and its nearby coastal villages. This is a popular area for walking, fishing and boating. The town's airfield also offers scenic adventure flights and skydiving.

For a night out, you can catch the latest blockbuster at the nearby cinemas in Narre Warren. Hotels in the area also offer trivia, DJs and other entertainment most nights of the week.

Eating out

Berwick has numerous cafes, eateries and restaurants offering a wide range of culinary experiences. You can enjoy the spicy taste sensations of India, Asia and the Middle East, share a selection of tapas, partake in a traditional Aussie barbecue or go Italian at the local trattoria.

A popular hotel in the centre of town serves bistro meals for lunch and dinner every day of the week. Or travel a little further to the many restaurants and cafes at the nearby shopping precincts and tourist destinations.
