Senior Research Fellow
Dr Dean has a PhD in addiction and mental health from the University of Queensland. Dr Dean's early research forcused on health behaviours in mental health settings, examining the impact of interventions on health outcomes for individuals and services. She worked with Queensland Health, Mater Children's Hospital and the Queensland Brain Institute.
In recent years, Dr Dean has focused on environmental issues, working in environmental communication, coral reef conservation, and science engagement with organisations like CoralWatch, the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and the Institute for Social Science Research.
In her current position with MSDI's BehaviourWorks Australia - supported by the Cooperative Research Centre for Water Sensitive Cities - Dr Dean is contributing to a range of projects exploring the determinants of water-related behaviours and potential targets for promoting greater uptake of these behaviours.
