Gitanjali is Senior Learning Coordinator with MSDI’s Sustainable Development Education Program.
Previously Gitanjali was based in the UK and worked as a learning and capacity development consultant and trainer with organisations such as LEAD International (UK), United Nations Development Programme and the International Union for Conservation (IUCN). With LEAD International, Gitanjali gained extensive experience in designing and implementing group process facilitation and training (with up to 200 participants at a time) using adult learning methodologies with an emphasis on experiential, learner focused, participatory learning. Her work over several years with UNDP Asia (Cap 2015) involved co-developing and facilitating intensive sustainability and leadership programs to build capacity of young leaders from government, business and civil society across Asia to implement the UN Millennium Development Goals.
In Australia, Gitanjali worked as an educator and project manager with the award winning National Centre for Sustainability, Swinburne University of Technology. She led and taught programs such as the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Education and Training for Sustainability and Diploma of Sustainability. She managed partnerships with other tertiary education providers to deliver sustainability education programs and resources across Australia. Gitanjali led delivery of certified Global Reporting Initiative’s (Netherlands) sustainability reporting training (with Net Balance) to corporates and government, and implemented the University's sustainability reporting. She regularly engaged in curriculum writing, program design and delivery of training for industry, government and the education sector.
Gitanjali’s early career was in international community development working on food security, intellectual property rights and gender projects in Asia Pacific. She has an interdisciplinary background with post graduate qualifications in corporate environmental and sustainability management (Monash), education and training for sustainability (Swinburne) and international community development (Massey, New Zealand) and a diploma in vocational education and training practice (NMIT).
